Signs of The Times: Bullies Lose, Unions Win, And Everyone Loves A Winner

THE ROMNEY-ITE NFL SCAB-BAG EXECUTIVE VEEP OF FOOTBALL SAID AT THE TIME OF THE REFEREE LOCKOUT, "You've never paid for an NFL ticket to watch somebody officiate a game." As the Nation's sports editor remarked, this one ranks right up there with "Helluva job, Brownie." Well, after the disaster that robbed the Packers of a victory in the last play of SCAB REFEREED FOOTBALL, the NFL ROMNEY-ITE owners caved like the SCAB-BAG schoolyard billionaire bullies they are: They gave the locked-out UNION referees EVERYTHING they'd been asking for, and then some. It was a drop in the bucket for a multi-billion dollar industry, specifically, about $3.2 million out of a $9 billion enterprise, or the cost of a Super Bowl ad. So much for naked SCAB-BAG OWNER GREED.

Consider this: The NFL is not CENTRAL or FUNDAMENTAL to our lives. The NFL referees union does not rise to the level of importance to society that our teachers, firefighters, police officers, nurses, first responders, do. But the principle is the same. We, as a society, pay for the modest cost of educating our children, keeping our streets safe and clean, for professional firefighters and emergency responders, and for essential quality of life issues, without relegating them to the lowest common denominator of privatization and naked, unfettered GREED. It's our choice. Union salaries and benefits are an infinitesimal amount of what unions have done for ALL of us.

Unions gave us the 40-hour work week, the weekend, anti-child labor laws, workplace safety rules, the minimum wage, smaller class sizes and fair distribution of resources among rich and poor school districts, and public safety rules that benefit all of us. No teacher or police officer or firefighter has ever risen, on their salary, to become a billionaire captain of industry or SCAB-BAG NFL OWNER. But their living wages and benefits were the impetus for the creation of the world's greatest middle class, a rising tide of prosperity and a social compact through more than a half century which enabled the GREEDY BASTARDS who didn't build any of it to amass fabulous fortunes, and then through sheer unadulterated GREED ("when is enough ENOUGH!" bellowed Senator Ted Kennedy, in righteous fury) dragging us back to the Gilded Age of the 1900s Robber Barons, shattering our social compact.

The principle is the same. The NFL bluster was one serious player injury away from complete catastrophe. They screwed their "brand" enough with Vegas alone, one call costing bettors a reported $250 million, not to speak of 70,000 angry fan call-ins, and players threatening to revolt and donate the proceeds of any fines to the referees. And so the SCAB-BAG GREEDY BASTARD NFL OWNERS caved like a house of cards. The Repugnant hypocrisy of UNION BUSTERS Paul Ryan and Scott Walker, calling for a return of the UNION REFS, hardly raised an eyebrow in the Beltway/MSM Media. Yet the principle remains the same: Unfettered GREED and the lowest common denominator of NO STANDARDS AND QUALITY of, for, and by the GREEDY BILLIONAIRE RATBASTARDS in exchange for crushing another union, versus the INTEGRITY AND QUALITY OF THE GAME, DEMANDED BY THE PEOPLE.

WE, THE PEOPLE are still in charge. PEOPLE are beginning to catch on.

P.S. Wouldn't you know it: Democratic Super Pacs are beginning to get seed funding from good guy White Knight millionaire and billionaire donors that had previously gone to the Repug Karl Rove gangster Super Pac from adoptive Chinaman billionaire, casino mogul Sheldon Adelson among other criminal types and foreigners who stay in the shadows. Everyone loves a winner, and the bad guys, it seems, are jumping off the Romney Titanic.
