Now ONLY an Obama victory can make 2008 a good year...

"Hey, play that lonesome loser's tune
That's the one I like the best."
And he closed his eyes, and slipped away,
It was the dying Cub fan's last request:

Do they still play the blues in Chicago,
When baseball season rolls around?
When the snow melts away, do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy-covered burial ground?
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League...

And now it can be rightly said:
ANY TEAM CAN HAVE A BAD CENTURY

Geez, now you're REALLY putting pressure on Barack.

And BTW, the Steve Goodman song is only about 1000 times better than the Eddie Vedder song. They are not even in the same universe.

Condolences, RR, to you, Pete, and the Doc. I believe my baseball season ends today, too, fwiw.

Not only is the EV song bad musically - worse than that, it smacks of Pudwhack Mayeresque self-absorbed inanity... Thanks for the kind words on my loss -- and even though I am not a WS fan, I hope that you are wrong about their fate.

On the contrary, RR, I believe only a truly special team can have a century as bad as the Cubs. We root for the unique.

And any day that includes a little Steve Goodman is a good day.
