"There once once a man who lived in a comfortable house in a prosperous village. The man's wife had a set of golf clubs that she stored in the garage. The man, being an inconsiderate lout, often left the garage door open, saying "I live in a comfortable house in a prosperous village, no harm will come to me or to my possessions." They paid little attention to the garage as months went by, not really noticing if all the items were there. One day, though, the wife asked the man, `have you seen my golf clubs?' It was then he realized that they had been robbed. He did not see it happen, he did not really even realize it was happening, and yet he allowed it to happen."
But Teacher, what is the point of this story? Other than to say that the man in the comfortable house was a dolt, I mean?
"You must be alert and vigilant in your comfortable house in your prosperous village, my friends. You may think that you live in a place where your rights are protected and your freedoms guaranteed, but if you sit idly by and assume they are there and safe, then one day they may disappear into nothingness like the golf clubs. Thieves abound, thieves that will steal your liberty, freedom and cherished rights away before your eyes if you do not stop them. If you fail to act and leave the doors open, you may rail against the thieves, but you must also blame yourselves."
That said, he still was a dolt!
