Here is a depressing thought. Even if the House and Senate were somehow moved to impeach and convict, here is the order of succession:
Vice President Dick Cheney
Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert
President pro tempore of the Senate Ted Stevens
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
Secretary of the Treasury John Snow
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales
Secretary of the Interior Gale A. Norton
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns
Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez (ineligible, born in
Secretary of Labor (ineligible, Elaine Chao not native born)
Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Alphonso Jackson
Secretary of Transportation Norm Mineta
Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman
Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson
Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff

For crying out loud. There's not one person on that list that's even remotely acceptable. The plus, I would think, for an impeachment would be that the White House would be so tainted (that the president got removed by a congress in which his party held the majority) that they'd never get anything done. Cheney is viewed more negatively than Bush, so he wouldn't be able to get anything done, either.
