Today's visit from Mr. Dictionary Man

Moron [mor-on] (n) : A person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment; a person of borderline intelligence in a classification of mental retardation, having an intelligence quotient of 50 to 69.

When in doubt, blame golf. That's what former Vice President Dan Quayle did in assessing his political career. The one-time captain of DePauw University [Where? Never heard of the place?] golf team told TravelGolf.com that being a good golfer probably hurt him politically. Responding to a question that asked if it is important in politics to be a good golfer, Quayle said, "It's a handicap, actually, because I played golf all through college and played competitive golf and I'm a reasonable golfer without even picking up a club. And it hurt politically because everybody would say I was out golfing all day when I hadn't even played golf. Being a good golfer is a liability in politics." (link)

No, Dan. No one ever thought you were out playing golf all day. They thought you were out being A MORON all day. Golfing ability isn't a handicap in politics--stupidity is.
