BP LAUNCHES NEW PR CAMPAIGN AFTER "APOLOGY" FAUX PAS
BP Chairman of the Board Carl-Henric Svanberg caused a furor with his fake apology: “I hear comments sometimes that large oil companies are greedy companies or don't care. But that is not the case indeed. We care about the small people.”
“Purely a translation matter,” said a flustered BP spokesman. “In Swedish ‘small people’ is ‘MUNCHKIN’.” Later, Svanberg apologized for his fake apology: “I spoke clumsily this afternoon, and for that, I am very sorry. I meant to say munchkin, of course. President Obama and I care very much for the munchkins.”
