This hot from the Washington Post: Senator Arlen Specter has decided to SWITCH PARTIES from that R-word to the Democratic Party.
Wow. This is a HUGE political story. With Senator Franken, this will give the Dems that 60-vote filibuster-proof majority.

I was just about to post this. If they can hold on to Ben Nelson and some of the other wimps, this could be a big deal.
I'd not heard this. Isn't he the mean one that's always on the fence anyway?
Looks are sometimes deceiving, Lula. Specter looks mean and dour but he's actually reasonable, moderate, and honest.
And he saw writing on the wall, as the GOP now is about as popular as trenchmouth. It is becoming a party localized to the old Confederacy and Lila of course excepted, the flyover states.
I don't see this being much more than a news story. Sen. Specter isn't a neo-con but he's not going to go full progressive liberal.
His values are the same and he sees the stupidity that has become the sinking ship he left.
The bigger story is Rush Limbaugh telling Specter to take McCain with him! When the going gets tough they eat their own!
