I am a nerd, a total geek. Like our friend Lula, I also like to play in the kitchen.

It will just be the family, but tomorrow night I'm hosting a "state dinner" to celebrate this historic inauguration. All the dishes come from previous WH state dinners. I'm printing out the following menu, and downloaded (legally) Hail to the Chief, and great inaugural speeches for background music.

Inaugural Dinner
The White House

New England Lobster Bisque

Salade of Warm Pear and Bleu Cheese
with
Baby Greens

Medallions of Duck
with
Roasted Baby Beets

Crepes
with Vanilla Custard

Actually I saw I used BABY twice in the menu! I'm obviously referring to ABORTION! I assume you saw stories of this ilk

Interesting idea. I will have to put something special together tomorrow night, now that you've inspired me.

Very very clever. I might have to copy but I don't eat meat. How can I make beans and rice fancy..Hmm..

You Peter are an awesome cook.

My dad's in DC for the big party tomorrow. I'll post a picture if he brings me back anything good. If he doesn't freeze to death that is.

Over the weekend I roasted a pan of winter vegetables--butternut squash, sweet potatoes, leeks, parsnips, turnips, etc., w/a little cinnamon and olive oil. Actually looked quite elegant.

Oooo, that sounds so good. If only I could get kids to eat leeks. The other's, parsnips and turnips, I could probably pass off as just funny looking potatoes.
