As an "able team mate", I accept the challenge. Now, first things first...where's the bar?!!

Well, Pete, can't see how to start a new post, so, I'll just add on to this one...

This from our good friend RitingFunny

Ripples in a Pond

I found myself wondering last night if the two London bombings and the attack in Egypt could have been made possible by a leak.

Given the nature of the CIA, we will never, ever know what operations Valerie Plame was involved in, (Unless, of course, the White House and Bob Novak decide to make that public as well.) but I cannot help but wonder exactly how many CIA assignments and covers were blown by that one act of cynical, cowardly political retribution. And how many American soldiers' lives were placed in peril (and continue to be so,) because the intelligence they depend so much on has been compromised.

That's the dirty little secret the president and his neo con buddies really don't want the nation or the world to ponder. As it stands right now, it's perfect for them, because they're not really being held accountable for the full scope of that one incredibly slimy, malicious and downright treasonous act.

And I just want to know where the hell Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and all the others who accused Democrats of treason are now that it has been shown that many in the administration they revere so much are what the president's father called, "the most insidious of traitors."

Yes, the president and his apologists want us to concentrate ONLY on Valerie Plame. They want us to rant and rave about Karl Rove, because then the assumption is that it was just one single CIA operative whose name was revealed, and it didn't really hurt anything.

However, just how many ripples are on that pond? Was a helicopter downed in Afghanistan because the intelligence the troops relied upon was compromised because the intelligence officers had been seen with Valerie Plame? Or was an operative who was working on the cells in London compromised because if his affiliation with an operative who had an affiliation with Plame? And did a bomb explode in a resort town in Egypt because international intelligence was compromised by association by association by association? And most eerily, how much has the Iraqi insurgency been aided by a compromised intelligence community.

The sad truth of this is it is NOT an isolated incident, as the White House so desperately wants us to believe. The scope of compromised intelligence reaches farther than any of us can possibly imagine. What exactly has been compromised because the White House had an axe to grind and they had the perfect douche bag (Novak) to grind that axe for them. And the bottom line is the White House is ecstatic that this has become about the literal legal interpretation of the act, because now they can parse it, and spin it, and avoid having the face the hard, cold truth that the lives of countless intelligence officers, (both military and non-military,) countless American soldiers, countless foreign intelligence officers and soldiers, and countless innocent people have been placed in peril just because George W. Bush and his buddies wanted to get even with someone who had the temerity to disagree with them.
