DePauw's Luis Davila recovered a Hope fumble on the first play of the second half and. four plays later, DePauw quarterback Spud Dick covered 14 yards for a score on fourth-and-one. Mallory's extra point lifted the Tigers to a 16-7 lead with 12:29 left in the third. He replaces an old-time baseball player, a former member of the Chicago White Sox, who rests in eternity in the ol' hometown, John Dickshot.

This'll blow yer mind Pete....I actually met John Dickshot when I was a kid. After retiring from baseball, he spent most of his time at his tavern, "Dickshot's," which was on Lincoln Street in Waukegan. My grandparents used to live a few doors down. Gramps used to take us there for beernuts & coke. They also had a cool bowling arcade game. It was a dark smokey place full of laughter.
Gramps also played a little recreational ball with Dickshot. I think we may even have a photo available....here's a link w/ a little about him www.ducey.com/papa.html
