I've wondered about Rodin's famous sculpture. Is he engaged in deep thought or sitting around wasting time? And why isn't he wearing pants? I ask the same of myself. Here we comment on well, mostly politics. Or we may just sit! If you like it, tell a friend. If not, tell us, but please read the GROUND RULES before you do.

Can I rant a bit? For the past few weeks we've been hearing threats from Bush of a "new strategy" (like there was a previous strategy?)and the Dems have been cheerleading their 100 hour plan.
Doesn't anyone remember some work that they failed to complete during the end of Repubelican domination? (Hint: WE HAVE NO FEDERAL BUDGET!)
So as the Gov limps along on continuing budget resolutions we are approaching the situation where small Gov funded segments that everyone ignores are cutting operations to the quick to avoid shutting down completely. Labor, Health and Human Services, job training programs, Energy Assitance, Head Start, DoE (but we don't need alternative fuel research) and Edumacation to name a few.
Oh yeah, they passed the appropriations bills for defense and homeland security, but what about real government funding?
The rest of the Gov. is running on continuing resolutions, freezing funding at last years levels. This is effectively a budget cut, but not necessarily where it needs cutting. Now the Presidents buddies can manipulate the budgets to move money away from some areas to cover others, like say robbing from the poor to give... you get the idea.
Shouldn't we fund the Government of the People before we fund more death in Iraq?
CNN put it in nice perspective:
The money spent on the Iraq war would have built 35,000 schools in the US.
Universal healthcare, prisons for pedophiles, clean fuel technology, etc...
