I've wondered about Rodin's famous sculpture. Is he engaged in deep thought or sitting around wasting time? And why isn't he wearing pants? I ask the same of myself. You're gonna have to learn your clichés. You're gonna have to study them, you're gonna have to know them.
I would like to retire two hackneyed phrases from this campaign season.
No more people should be "thrown under the bus." And henceforth policy matters or political questions may not be referred to as "too much inside baseball."
Anyone who describes themselves as a "maverick" should be thrown under the bus.
Although Merriam-Webster defines a maverick as a "motherless calf" which summarizes McCain's campaign pretty well; wandering in circles making irritating bleating sounds.
Peter, here are a few more for your consideration:
ReplyDelete"Get into the weeds"
"Pivot"
"brand" as in the "Obama brand"
Gamechanger?
